One cannot go to Spain and even less to Madrid without buying espadrilles. Casa Hernanz is certainly the most known of all the “alpargaterias” (factories of espadrilles). Of course there will be a waiting line… But it worth it at the idea to come back with at least 4 or 5 pairs of espadrilles...And we are sure you will..

Just got back from Madrid. Love the espadrilles at Casa Hernanz. Don't be intimidated by the line. It moves quickly and is well worth the wait.

Espadrilles of all kinds and all colors in the shop at affordable prices. The best way to get here is through Plaza Mayor. Calle de Toledo is south of Plaza Mayor. Be ready to wait in line. Staff of the shop is accommodating and patient.
